It is extremely important to reduce mycotoxin levels in grain and crops as mycotoxins attack and destroy grain and feed. Many livestock herds experience problems stemming from contaminated grain. Some experience increased mortality and high medication use. Adding a toxin binder or formic acid can reduce the problems, but rarely eliminate them completely.

Mycotoxins can lead to various adverse health effects and represent a significant risk to both humans and livestock. Preventing mycotoxins in crops and feed is crucial, as they negatively impact production outcomes. This includes a.o. reduced performance, lower feed intake, poor feed conversion, diminished weight gain, and decreased reproductive capabilities.

Today, livestock producers often use mycotoxin binders to reduce the toxic effects of mycotoxins. This is an effective tool for controlling mold and mycotoxin problems, but it is expensive and not always a sufficient solution.
