Bioenergie Marienthal GmbH & Co.KG operates the biogas plant in Goosefeld, located in Schleswig-Holstein, where the primary production of electricity comes from renewable energy sources.
Approximately ten percent of the generated electricity comes from biogas plants, which are based on significant amounts of sugar beets and maize. This corresponds to about one-third of Germany's maize crop, as approximately one-third of Germany's maize crop ends up in biogas plants instead of being used as food.
With the desire to change direction and instead focus on generating energy from straw and manure in their biogas plant, Bioenergie Marienthal GmbH & Co.KG entered a collaboration with Linka Energy A/S.
Linka Energy A/S therefore delivered a complete straw handling line, which included a thermal and mechanical straw processing system that completely breaks down the straw. The processed straw is then used in the second stage of the biogas plant and converted into biogas.
The straw handling system from Linka® is designed to efficiently handle up to 2 straw bales at a time, in sizes corresponding to midi-big and Heston bale sizes, i.e., up to 2400x900x1200mm.
Once the straw is shredded into long pieces, it is transported further on a conveyor belt and then introduced into a straw and slurry mixer.
Linka's® Straw Handling System can handle up to 4 bales per hour, and the automatic control and monitoring system ensure precise and logical feeding of straw bales based on predefined time or signal inputs from the customer.
