More gas from the same biomass

Biomass with a high dry matter content and long fibres can be difficult to digest. This may increase viscosity and the energy required for pumping and mixing, while preventing the biomass from being used to its full potential.

The DisRuptor® mechanical disintegration system breaks down the biomass and opens up fibrous structures. This increases the accessible surface area of the material, giving the bacteria better access to the nutrients. It can contribute to faster conversion and a higher gas yield from the biomass supplied.

Improved flow and lower energy consumption

The intensive treatment makes the biomass more homogeneous and reduces its viscosity. The material becomes easier to pump and mix, which can reduce the energy consumed by pumps and mixers. It also helps to minimise lumps and floating layers that can disrupt the process.

The DisRuptor® DR7000 mechanical disintegration system consists of a rotor with six blades and an outer ring. The biomass is processed in the narrow gap between the rotor and the ring. This gap is infinitely adjustable, allowing the treatment to be adapted to the feedstock and its dry matter content.

High throughput with low drive power

With an installed drive power of 15 kW, the system can process up to 200 m³ of organic suspension per hour. Wear on the blades and ring can be compensated for by readjustment. This extends the service life of the components and reduces the need to replace wear parts.

The QuickService concept provides easy access to the functional unit. Hydraulic assistance allows the head to be swivelled upwards, making inspection, adjustment and replacement of wear parts quick and straightforward.

Experience from biogas plants

Experience from biogas plants shows that mechanical disintegration can make biomass easier to pump and mix. The more homogeneous material can also contribute to a stable process, lower energy consumption and improved utilisation of the feedstock.

The actual effect depends on factors including the biomass, plant design and operating conditions. The DisRuptor® mechanical disintegration system is therefore adapted to the requirements of the individual biogas plant.
