Vestjysk Biogas takes the next step: with Lundsby as a partner, the plant’s capacity will double, boosting the production of green energy.
Vestjysk Biogas is a modern and efficient biogas plant located in West Jutland, which has been supplying green energy to the natural gas grid since its construction in 2017. The plant was designed and built by Lundsby Renewable Solutions and has proven its strength over the years as a stable and reliable solution.
In 2024, Lundsby was once again selected as a partner for a major upgrade and expansion of Vestjysk Biogas – a project divided into two phases:
October 2024: The first agreement covered three large concrete tanks, a new technical building, a new feed system, and a complete rebuild of the gas system.
July 2025: The second agreement added two more concrete tanks and an upgrade of the gas and heating systems, including pipes and valves.
Work on the site will start in March 2026, and the entire expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Once the project is complete, the plant’s capacity will double from 1,500 m³ to 3,000 m³ biogas.
At the same time, the amount of biomass that can be processed will increase accordingly. The expansion has been planned with particular consideration given to minimizing the impact on the operation of the existing plant.
The collaboration between Lundsby and Vestjysk Biogas is a good example of long-term partnerships where solid biogas technical know-how is combined with local ambitions. This expansion will strengthen both local security of supply and the national green transition – and Lundsby confirms its role as a leading supplier of scalable, flexible biogas plants.
