In-house feed production for 1,400 cows – with less work and greater precision

How can large-scale dairy production make feed production more efficient, whilst ensuring both precision and logistics are well managed?

This is a question they have been addressing at Andekærgaard in Denmark, where the aim is to run an efficient farm with 1,400 Jersey cows, as well as calves and heifers. In-house feed production and automation play a central role here.

Andekærgaard has opted for a SKIOLD feed solution tailored to cattle production. The system accurately measures and mixes the raw materials, enabling the rapid production of various feed mixtures, which are then delivered directly to the mixer wagon.

The result is not only a more consistent feed mix. According to Andekærgaard, the high mixing precision leads to healthier cows and thus higher productivity, whilst the automation reduces the time spent preparing the various feed mixes by more than 50 per cent.

This shows that in-house feed production can also be an attractive solution for modern livestock farming, where efficient logistics, precise feeding and minimal time expenditure are crucial.
