Product description:
FarmDroid FD60 is an autonomous, solar- and electric-powered robot that performs seeding and mechanical weed control in row crops without the use of herbicides. The robot records the GPS coordinates of every seed during sowing and subsequently performs selective weeding without cameras, including within the crop row. A new enlarged seeding system enables the handling of larger seeds such as maize and beans on a larger scale. An integrated Range Extender provides up to 24 hours of operation and a daily capacity of up to 18 hectares. The FD60 can be configured with up to 20 rows and a working width of 6.75 m, for example allowing three onion beds to be managed simultaneously.

Expert description:
The FD60 is awarded 2 out of 3 stars, primarily due to its integrated hybrid power system. The combination of eight solar panels, a 23.5 kWh battery and an automatic Range Extender enables the robot to operate for up to 24 hours per day, even during periods with limited sunlight. Combined with a capacity of up to 18 hectares per day and 60 hectares per season, the solution becomes relevant for larger farms and a wider range of operations.
The system therefore combines high capacity and extended operating time with low fuel consumption and chemical-free weed control. The innovation receives 2 stars because the hybrid system and increased capacity represent significant and practical improvements, while the technology continues to build on FarmDroid’s existing and proven core concept.
