An automated solution designed to increase the value of slurry from both dairy cattle housing and sow/piglet units. For cattle slurry, up to 60% of the organic matter is concentrated into a fibre fraction. This fibre can be transported over longer distances to a biogas plant, while an optimised slurry with a high nutrient utilisation rate remains on the farm. For sow and piglet slurry, the process creates a concentrated slurry with sufficient biogas potential to finance the logistics from farm to biogas plant. The filtrate has a reduced phosphorus content and can be used for complete fertilisation.

Expert description:
An interesting further development of on-farm slurry separation, where microfiltration can produce a fertiliser product with lower dry matter content and an improved nitrogen-to-phosphorus (N:P) ratio compared with untreated slurry or slurry separated using a screw press.
