Bioenergy Marienthal GmbH & Co.KG operates the biogas plant in Goosefeld, located in Schleswig-Holstein. The overarching theme for this area is that the primary production of electricity comes from renewable energy sources: Approximately ten percent of the power is derived from biogas plants based on large quantities of sugar beets and corn. This corresponds to about one-third of Germany's corn crop ending up in biogas plants instead of on the table.
Bioenergy Marienthal GmbH & Co.KG wanted to change this and, in the future, focus on generating energy from straw and manure in their biogas plant. Heat, electricity, and biomethane from biogas would become essential components in sustainable energy production.
In 2020, Linka Energy A/S delivered a complete straw handling line to Bioenergy Marienthal GmbH & Co.KG., Where a thermo-physical straw processing plant is operated for the complete breakdown of straw. The processed straw is then utilized in the second step in the biogas plant and converted into biogas.
The plant consists of a Linka® straw handling system that handles straw bales in midi-big and Heston bale sizes, up to 2400x900x1200mm.
The straw bales are placed on the straw line with an automatic crane in two identical storage area lines and a half line in front of the straw handling line in the cold straw storage hall.
When a signal is sent to the system, the crane automatically detects the straw bale in the straw storage, moves to the straw line, picks up a straw bale, and places it down on the line. The straw line handles two straw bales at a time, and before reaching the Linka® guillotine gate, the automatic Linka® twine remover ensures that the twines are removed automatically.
After the twines are removed, the straw bale is transported to the Linka® guillotine, which cuts the bales into approximately 25 cm long pieces before delivering them on a conveyor belt, taking them outside the building and depositing the straw into a straw and slurry mixer.
The straw handling system is designed to handle up to 4 bales per hour.
The control and monitoring system are based on PLC control, ensuring a controlled and logical feeding of straw bales based on the agreed-upon time/signal input.
Linka®s delivery also included a fully automatic "walking floor" solution that delivers fuel to the biogas plant's boiler system.
