New loader attachment improves operational safety when handling big bags and is awarded a three-star Europe News at Agromek Stars.

VestJysk MaskinKonstruktion ApS presents a new hydraulic big bag attachment that combines lifting, opening and controlled discharge of big bags in a single solution. Developed for applications including fertiliser and seed, the attachment enables the operator to control the entire process directly from the loader cab.

The big bag is opened into an integrated hopper, after which the material flow is controlled hydraulically. The operator can therefore start and stop the discharge as required, partially empty the bag, move any remaining contents and continue at a later time. This also means that the receiving fertiliser spreader or seed drill does not need to accommodate the entire contents of the big bag at once.

All active functions are operated via a single double-acting hydraulic service. The opening mechanism, hopper and flow-control functions are integrated directly into the loader attachment, meaning that the tractor or machine subsequently used to apply the material does not have to carry the additional system weight during field operations.

Three-star Europe News

Agromek’s judging panel particularly highlights the safety benefits of the solution and awards it a three-star Europe News:

“The new attachment makes it possible to lift, open and empty big bags without leaving the loader cab. The operator can control the material flow, stop the discharge process and move any remaining contents without standing close to or underneath the suspended bag. This eliminates the need to climb up during filling operations and thereby reduces the risk of falls, entrapment injuries and dropped bags. At the same time, exposure to dust is reduced.”

The attachment differs from traditional big bag lifting devices by handling not only the bag itself but also the material after the bag has been opened. The combination of lifting, opening, material handling and hydraulic flow control therefore introduces a new working principle focused on operational safety, ergonomics, flexibility and improved capacity utilisation.
