Uniforest launches new crane-mounted felling grapple with moving blade

RK250K combines felling and loading in a single attachment and is awarded a two-star Agromek News at Agromek Stars.

Skovmek presents the Uniforest RK250K, a new hydraulic felling grapple featuring a moving cutting blade. The grapple has been developed for crane mounting on forwarders and forestry trailers, among other applications, and enables felling and loading to be carried out using the same attachment.
During felling, the RK250K grips the tree stem while the hydraulically operated blade moves through the trunk from the outside towards the grapple. The felling process is therefore performed actively by the moving blade rather than by the grapple arms forcing the stem against a fixed blade.
The blade and the grapple’s tilt function can be locked. Once locked, the RK250K can be used as a conventional grapple for loading and material-handling tasks. This allows the operator to move directly from felling to loading without changing attachments.
Agromek’s judging panel has awarded the solution two stars. In its assessment, the panel particularly highlighted the combination of the hydraulic blade and the ability to avoid changing attachments between felling and loading operations.
“The Uniforest RK250K combines felling and loading in a single attachment. The hydraulically operated moving blade provides an alternative to traditional fixed-blade systems and eliminates the need to change attachments between felling and loading, improving efficiency in day-to-day forestry operations,” stated the judging panel.
According to the product description, the RK250K differs from traditional crane-mounted saw grapples by using an active, moving blade. At the same time, the lockable blade and tilt function provide the attachment with greater versatility in everyday forestry work.
