John Deere 8R 540 raises standard tractor power output to 634 hp

New flagship 8R model combines high power, manoeuvrability and integrated precision technology and is awarded a two-star Agromek News.
John Deere presents the 8R 540, a conventionally designed standard tractor in the high-horsepower segment delivering up to 634 hp. The model has been developed to handle implements that would otherwise typically be associated with larger articulated tractors, while retaining the manoeuvrability of the 8R series.
The 8R 540 is built around John Deere’s 13.6-litre JD14 engine and can achieve up to 634 hp with Peak Power IPM. The tractor delivers maximum torque of 2,695 Nm and has a stated turning radius of approximately 7 metres. Depending on specification, transport speeds of up to 60 km/h are possible.
Integrated technology includes the G5Plus CommandCenter, a built-in StarFire receiver with SF-RTK capability, AutoTrac, Section Control, Variable Rate Application, JDLink and integration with the John Deere Operations Center.
The CommandView 4 cab has also been updated with an enhanced CommandARM and the new CommandX Plus and CommandX Pro joysticks. These provide greater opportunities for individual configuration and direct control of functions such as the display, Precision Ag features, telephone and infotainment systems.
Agromek’s judging panel has awarded the John Deere 8R 540 two stars. In its final assessment, the panel particularly highlighted the combination of very high engine power in a conventional chassis, the manoeuvrability of a standard tractor and the integrated precision technology:
“The John Deere 8R 540 pushes the power limits of conventional tractors by combining up to 634 hp from the JD14 engine with the 8R series chassis. The tractor delivers the capacity required for larger implements without sacrificing the manoeuvrability and transport characteristics of a standard tractor. Integrated precision technology and a new CommandView 4 cab featuring an enhanced CommandARM and joysticks further strengthen operator comfort and machine control.”
