iCOW Milk Sampler simplifies milk sample collection

Vacuum-powered universal sampler transfers milk directly into the sample vial and is awarded a two-star Agromek News.

VikingDanmark presents the iCOW Milk Sampler, a new universal sampling device for milking parlours. The solution has been developed for existing fixed-installed milk meters and enables milk samples to be collected directly into the sample vial during milking.
The sampler uses a vacuum-powered system and can be installed alongside existing milk meters. This eliminates the traditional procedure in which milk is first collected in jugs or cups and then manually poured into sample vials.
The purpose is to make sampling simpler and more consistent while reducing manual work on milk recording days. According to the submission, the system could eventually replace the current jug-and-bottle method used for milk sampling in milking parlours.
Agromek’s judging panel has awarded the iCOW Milk Sampler two stars. In its final assessment, the panel particularly highlighted that the sample is transferred directly into the sample vial, simplifying the workflow and reducing the risk of recording errors.
“Milk samples are normally collected using manual jugs, cups and dippers. With the iCOW Milk Sampler, the milk sample is collected automatically and transferred directly into the sample vial, significantly simplifying the workflow and reducing the risk of recording errors.”
According to the product description, the solution may also make it easier to collect samples more frequently for purposes such as disease monitoring, treatment follow-up and pregnancy testing.
