FarmBackup moves inventory management onto the field map

Map-based inventory management with field status and traceability named as a three-star Europe News at Agromek

FarmBackup ApS is introducing a map-based inventory management solution that enables farmers and machine operators to register stocks of products such as straw, silage bales and grain directly on the field or storage site where the goods are physically located. The solution brings together both owned and customer-operated land in a single map view, making it possible to monitor inventories across multiple farms.

The interactive field map serves as the user interface itself. Users simply click on a field or storage location and can then add, remove, dispatch or receive a product. Product type and quantity can be registered in just a few taps, with the option to attach both notes and photos. Inventory status is displayed directly on the map, while the office-based web platform and the mobile app in the field synchronise in real time.

At the same time, field status functionality makes it possible to see which fields are ready for the next operation. Status indicators can show, among other things, whether a field is ready for harvesting, mowing, tedding, raking, baling, wrapping, stacking or transport. When the farm manager updates a status, machine operators can see the change immediately and plan their routes without having to contact the office.

Every registration is logged with time, location, task type and invoicing customer. Products can therefore be traced from field to storage site and onwards to the end customer. According to FarmBackup, registrations can also be transferred directly to invoicing, eliminating the need for duplicate data entry.

Everything on one platform

Agromek’s judging panel has awarded the solution three stars and classified it as a Europe News. In its final assessment, the judging panel particularly highlighted the ability to combine the geographical location of fields and real-time inventory status across multiple company registration numbers within a single platform.

“Agricultural businesses are becoming larger, involve more owners and are increasingly outsourcing parts of their operations to external contractors. This increases the need for everyone involved to quickly see where goods and tasks are located. With FarmBackup’s map-based inventory management, users can register and track, for example, straw bales and grain loads on individual fields while maintaining a consolidated overview across multiple farming businesses.

Farm managers and coordinators can therefore plan work based on current stock levels and the geographical location of fields, while drivers can quickly identify the correct field and see how many bales remain. FarmBackup thus brings together field locations and current inventory status across multiple company registration numbers on a single platform.”

This was the judges’ rationale for the award.

The solution is aimed at farmers, agricultural contractors and other operators managing geographically dispersed inventories and work tasks, where there is a need for a shared and continuously updated overview between office and field.
