Cropline combines three data layers in an intelligent seed rate model

A new seed rate model combines organic matter content, clay content and elevation differences in a single automatically generated seed rate map and is recognised as a two-star Agromek innovation.

Danish Agro Machinery A/S presents a new intelligent seed rate model in Cropline that automatically combines three data layers from SoilOptix soil analyses: organic matter content, clay content and relative field elevation. The purpose is to adjust seed rates to local soil conditions and achieve a more uniform plant population across the field.

The model starts with the target seed rate, which can either be calculated using Cropline’s seed rate calculator or specified by the user. The seed rate is then adjusted according to local conditions and distributed across four seed rate zones as standard. Users can change the number of zones themselves, and the finished map can be used directly in the terminal during sowing.

Previously, Cropline could generate seed rate maps based on a single data layer, such as biomass, clay content or organic matter content. The innovation lies in the automatic combination of all three data layers within a single model, allowing the seed rate map to be based on a broader data foundation.

The Agromek judging panel has awarded Cropline’s intelligent seed rate model two stars. In its final assessment, the panel particularly highlights the combination of organic matter, clay content and elevation differences, as well as the possibility of reusing the maps over several years and continuously refining them with new experience.

“The combination of the three parameters provides a result that is close to optimal and makes it easier to decide how seed should be distributed across the field. The maps can be reused for several years and continuously improved with new experience,” the judging panel noted.

According to the product description, the model is designed to support improved crop establishment, more uniform crop growth and more efficient use of seed.
