A 3D camera and software solution with an AI algorithm calculates cows' weights. The camera, along with a mini-computer and ear tag reader, can be set up in areas such as the return lane from the milking parlor or as cows exit a milking robot. After each registration, the cow's weight is calculated. This information can be used to assess mobilization in early lactation, timing of positive energy balance after calving, insemination timing, and weight gain in late lactation.

Each ear tag reading triggers the camera to capture images, and an artificial intelligence algorithm calculates the cow's weight. This algorithm uses all the available information from the image of the cow's back to convert it into the cow's weight. These results are stored in a cloud solution, making them always accessible to farmers and used over time to present management tools and benchmarking against other similar herds.

Results are presented on a product website and in DMS. In the future, the system can also be used to register the weight of dry cows, heifers, and slaughter calves.
