Agromania will present innovative solutions that can improve farming – now and in the future.
Agromania is a new section at Agromek in which the focus is on innovation and farming of the future.
Agromek 2018 in Denmark is the largest combined agricultural exhibition in Northern Europe for all kinds of machines, implements and technology for livestock housing and fieldwork.
Agromania is a new section at Agromek in which the focus is on innovation and farming of the future. Danish and foreign farmers will be able to experience a universe with technology, robots, drones and trade happenings concerning farming of the future.
The Chairman of Agromek, Managing Director Sten Andersen, Dan Egtved A/S, has stated: “We look forward to launching this new concept which is earmarked for future solutions for the agricultural sector.”
The agricultural knowhow centre, Seges, will present its digital solutions in the Agromania section.
Director Ivar Ravn, Seges Digital, states: “It is exciting that Agromek has now dedicated an entire section for innovative and digital solutions. We feel that we will be in the right location.”
He also said that Seges will, among other topics, present how data can be applied for feeding control via DMS livestock registration, so that the farmer always knows how much feed is being used and how much feed there still is in the store.
Ivar Ravn continued: “We will also present our decision making unit – the CropManager – which applies real time functions and combinations of various data sources. Among other advantages, this enables precision fertilizing and crop spraying for improved economy.”
In the Agromania section, the exhibition will also hold the innovation competition – Agromek Student Challenge. Seges is one of the participating companies.
Ivar Ravn also stated: “It will be interesting to see what the students can contribute with solutions to our particular case regarding how to gain increased value from the enormous amount of agricultural data.”
Robots and drones from the Danish Technological Institute
The Danish Technological Institute is also represented in Agromania. The Institute is involved in many projects regarding farming of the future. For example, the Institute has projects concerning robots and drones. The farmer’s field operations are constantly changing.
Section Head, Mette Walter, Danish Technological Institute has stated: “At Agromania, we will present some of the tools that are currently on their way to being daily features for farmers and companies that purchase farm products. The new aids will include some of the first self-propelled robots for field applications. We will also present drones which can be applied to identify plant stress and for use during the spreading of fertilizers and fungicides for the benefit of both the environment and the farmer’s economy.”
The Danish Technological Institute will also focus on environment technologies and how to handle excess phosphorus in biogas systems.
The Institute will also present innovation regarding how increased production of insects can contribute to meeting protein requirements in feedstuffs and how to exploit waste as a bio resource.
Finally, the Institute will present a preview as to how 3D prints of food products can contribute to children, patients and elder citizens having more interest in eating. For example, if a carrot is converted to mash and, with the aid of a 3D printer, is presented as a star shaped product.
The new start-up company, Commoditrader, which is a digital trading platform for farmers and the grain and feedstuffs trade, will also participate in Agromania.
One of Commoditrader’s initiators, Ida Boesen, has said: “We are extremely pleased to participate.”
Ida Boesen continued: “I believe that it has an enormous value for a start-up company like ours to participate at Agromania. We are very grateful that Agromek has established this initiative and has provided space for smaller companies. If visitors are interested in studying what is going on in new innovation companies in the agricultural sector, then they know where to go. It is a unique venue for us to participate at Agromania.”
Commoditrader will be launched just prior to the Agromek Exhibition taking place. Ida Boesen is, therefore, looking forward to introducing this new trading platform to Danish and foreign visitors.
Ida Boesen continued: “We want to extend our business across our national borders, so it is perfect for us that there are many foreign guests and visitors in attendance at Agromek.”
Agromek will take place during the period 27th to 30th November 2018 in the MCH Exhibition Centre, Herning, Denmark.
