Tønder Biogas - one of the largest biogas plants in Europe

At full capacity, Tønder Biogas will be one of the largest plants in Europe. The biogas plant will annually handle approximately 930,000 tons of green sustainable raw materials and produce around 40,000,000 Nm³ of biomethane. This corresponds to about 440 GWh per year.
Tønder Biogas has been operational since December 2022 and is currently about 25% complete. Production will increase as the plant is expanded. Construction of the remaining part of the plant will begin over the summer and is expected to be completed in 2025. The plant will be able to cover the annual energy consumption of approximately 20,000 households.
