This new management system for farrowing pens is classified as a three star, New in Europe exhibit.
This new info-system for farrowing pens helps the personnel to supervise the sows and to receive an alarm if there is a requirement for prompt action.
The system involves a camera, temperature sensors and an app, This is collected in the program – Pig Signal Management.
This new info-system has been classified as a three star, New in Europe exhibit at Agromek 2022. It has been developed and will be presented by the Danish company, Best Farm A/S.
The Agromek Evaluation Committee emphasizes that this is a new composition of elements by which the new info-system can read when piglet birth starts, register the sow’s movements and water consumption. This data is clearly presented with icons and operator interface.
Pig Signal Management consists of a camera which is installed in the farrowing pen for the weekly group. The camera is installed on a stand in the pen fittings. It records thermographic heat behind the sow and it is set to see the new piglets and if the sow is lying down or standing. A water meter is also installed on the sow’s drinking unit and a sensor is fitted in the piglet lair. All signals are cloud transmitted and then forwarded to the Pig Signal Management app.
Personnel can thus see if the sow has stood up two/three times during the latest day. This could indicate that the sow is ill. An information icon is then activated to inform the personnel that the sow is to receive attention.
