New livestock housing concept reduces emission of odour and ammonia from pig sties

Agrifarm’s new livestock housing concept for the reduction of odour and ammonia from pig sties has been approved as a Two Star exhibit at Agromek
The prefabricated collection tank is one of the innovations in this new sty concept from Agrifarm.
This new concept for the reduction of emissions from pig sties is a combination of several innovations.
The Agromek Evaluation Committee has approved and classified Agrifarm’s “0-emission system for pig production” as a Two Star New exhibit at Agromek 2022.
The system has been developed for Agrifarm’s concept sty. This is installed with a line traction system. The system scrapes the slurry out two or more times per day. This reduces the emission of methane, ammonia and odours from the sty. In addition there is a significant reduction of manure residue.
The slurry is collected in new, prefabricated collation funnels. The slurry is then sucked out by a newly developed vacuum system and delivered to a front tank. This can be collected by a slurry trailer if the slurry is to be forwarded to a biogas plant.
The combination of the line traction system and the vacuum system ensures that slurry with a high dry matter content can be transported out from the sty and it is thus possible to spread more straw litter for the pigs. In addition, the dry matter enriched slurry is more suitable for the later production of biogas, as it is quickly extracted/scraped out of the sty.
