Yara will produce green fertilizer by applying electricity gained from hydro, solar and wind power sources instead of natural gas.

This new production process means that pressure on the climate from green fertilizer production will be significantly lower than that caused by traditional nitrogen fertilizers.

This fertilizer will by produced by Yara in Norway and it has been classified as a two star exhibit at Agromek 2022 where it will be presented by Yara Danmark A/S.

According to Yara this green fertilizer will have exactly the same chemical and physical composition as fertilizers produced by applying fossil fuels such as natural gas, coal and oil. This innovation is attained by applying hydro, solar and wind power.

Yara states that this will have a beneficial effect on the climate regarding end products when the farmers apply green fertilizer. For example, the effect on the climate for the production of bread will be reduced by 10-15 percent. This will be attained without making other changes in the chain of values merely by applying green fertilizer for grain production.
